Dayton signs $825 million bonding bill 

Glendalough State Park in Battle Lake, Minnesota, is getting $750,000 for this trail center project as part of the state bonding bill. Gov. Mark Dayton on Wednesday signed a transportation-heavy $825 million bonding bill, despite his concerns that the legislation didn't go far enough to aid higher education and other wish-list projects.

Minnesota man accused of drinking in crash where passenger died 

A central Minnesota man faces multiple charges, including criminal vehicular homicide, in connection with a fatal crash May 4 at a highway intersection north of Grove City. Blake Lee Ahlbrecht, 60, of Grove City is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol when his van failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a semi at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 4 and Meeker County Highway 16. A passenger in the back seat of the van, 57-year-old Steven Delmer Schmidt of Atwater, died in the crash.

Authorities: Booze involved in fatal Minnesota crash 

Authorities say alcohol was involved in a fatal crash in Meeker County, about 50 miles southwest of St. Cloud, on Friday afternoon. The Minnesota State Patrol says a Dodge Caravan driven by 60-year-old Blake Lee Ahlbrecht of Grove City, Minnesota, was westbound on County Rd. 16 when it failed to stop for a stop sign and struck a semi that was traveling southbound on Highway 4. Steven Delmer Schmidt, 57, of Atwater, Minnesota, a passenger in the Dodge Caravan who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
