ASV Celebrates 35 Successful Years of Pushing Limits 

ASV commemorated the anniversary with an open house event in August at its Grand Rapids, Minn., facility. Northern Minnesota man pleads guilty to sexually assaulting children two decades ago 

A Grand Rapids man accused of sexually assaulting his young nieces two decades ago pleaded guilty Tuesday, Aug. 14, in State District Court in Itasca County. Donald Jamsa, 81, was charged in March with three counts of felony criminal sexual conduct related to the allegations of Katye Stolp and Kendra Alfords, who both agreed to be named.

Kevin Frank Kiess was headed east on U.S. Highway 10 when a tire blew out in his Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to the incident report . It took place about 10 a.m. near Benton Drive.

Court sides with Nubai, dethrones Clark at Chippewa Capital Partners 

A judge has prohibited Tom Clarke from claiming to be a leader of Chippewa Capital Partners or representing the company in any way. An order issued on Friday by U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz grants the preliminary injunction against Clarke that was sought by Nubai Global Investment Ltd. Clarke and Nubai disagree over who controls Chippewa, the company that successfully bid in a bankruptcy auction to restructure the partially developed assets in Nashwauk formerly controlled by Essar Steel Minnesota, which eventually came to be known as Mesabi Metallics.

DNR auction set for Aug. 25 in Grand Rapids 

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will conduct a public auction of surplus equipment at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 25 at the DNR northeast regional office, 1201 East Highway 2, Grand Rapids. More than 120 items will be sold including automobiles, trucks, ATVs, snowmobiles, tractors, boat packages, outboard motors, boats, trailers, mowers, power tools, auto shop tools, tractor implements, and potentially dump trucks and other heavy equipment from other agencies.

For Clarke, a steep hill to climb 

Roughly two years after purchasing Magnetation and Essar Steel Minnesota in bankruptcy auctions, Tom Clarke, front man for both, faces challenges that include ERPI's Chapter 11 bankruptcy declaration and a decision by his own investors at Nubai Global Investment Ltd. to remove him as chief executive of their northern Minnesota companies. In a July 27 interview, however, Clarke was optimistic.

Reif Performing Arts Center New Season Tickets on Sale Monday Aug. 6 

The Reif Performing Arts Center in Grand Rapids, Minn. announces its 2018-2019 live entertainment season tickets go on sale Monday, August 6 beginning at 8:30 a.m. There are more than 50 scheduled shows with more planned through June, 2019.
