After boy's tragic death from abuse, improve child protection training 

Child-abuse victim Eric Dean, pictured here with a broken arm, died in February 2013 at age 4. Teachers, caregivers and family members reported Eric for abuse at least 15 times before his death, for which his stepmother was convicted of murder in May 2014. The boy's case led to numerous changes by the state Legislature in Minnesota's child protection system.

Four Minnesota State two-year colleges get new leaders 

This week, the board of trustees approved the appointments of Carrie Brimhall as president of Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Craig Johnson as president of Ridgewater College, and Michael Berndt as interim president of two schools, Dakota County Technical College and Inver Hills Community College. Brimhall has been vice president of academic affairs at Minnesota State Community and Technical College since 2014.

Family of slain child says multiple people called Otter Tail County social services 

The pickup family members of slain 6-year-old Justis Burland drove from Spokane, Wash., to Fergus Falls, Minn., sat outside the Otter Tail County courthouse Tuesday, April 17. A makeshift memorial of stuffed animals for 6-year-old Justis Burland sits on the front steps of the house at 333 Friberg Ave. in Fergus Falls, Minn., the residence in which Burland was allegedly beaten and killed.

The death of a six-year-old on Monday in Fergus Falls has many people asking who dropped the ball and who missed the warning signs. We went back to Fergus Falls today to demand answers of Child Protective Services, as well as the county, to find out what went wrong-and whether or not someone didn't do their job.

Fergus Falls police charge 2 with murder of 6-year-old boy 

Two people have been arrested and charged with third-degree murder in connection with the death of a 6-year-old boy here, and his sibling has been taken into protective custody. Bobbie Christine Bishop, 40, and Walter Henry Wynhoff, 44, both of Fergus Falls, were being held Tuesday, April 10, in Otter Tail County Jail and both are charged with third-degree murder.

Fergus Falls investigate suspicious death of child 

Police in Fergus Falls say they're investigating the death of a child who was unconscious and not breathing when brought to a local hospital. Authorities say the circumstances surrounding the child's death on Monday appear to be suspicious.

Man found guilty of threatening police, deputies while in prison 

A Stillwater State Prison inmate has been convicted of making threats and witness tampering by a district court jury in Fergus Falls. 26 year-old Ramsey Kettle was accused of threatening two Fergus Falls Police officers and an Otter Tail County deputy along with a witness in another case.
