Motorcyclist hits car that pulled into his path in south metro and is killed 

A motorist pulled her car into the path of a motorcycle in the south metro over the weekend, and the collision tossed the rider to his death, authorities said. The crash occurred about 4:40 p.m. Saturday at an exit ramp for Hwy.

That storm is not expected to be as severe as the historic one that fell over the Twin Cities last weekend. Provide beds in veterans homes where they're needed most: the Twin Cities metro area 

Of 917 veterans on waiting lists in Minnesota in 2015 for placement in a veterans home, 717 were waiting at the Minneapolis home. We must replace the 150 beds lost there during much-needed upgrades to the facility.

Several hurt in weekend crashes across southern Minnesota. 

The State Patrol says a southbound car on Highway 52 driven by Mohamed Mohamud Yusuf, 20 of Rochester, went out of control around 8 am Sunday and hit the concrete median barrier between 6th and 12th streets in Rochester. Yusuf was taken to St. Mary's for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.

Collision on icy road sends pair to hospital 

A car collided with a pickup east of Kenyon at about 7:23 Tuesday morning, sending the car's driver and passenger to the hospital. Elizabeth Shellito, 31, of Charlotte, Mich., was eastbound on Minnesota Highway 60 about three miles east of Kenyon when her car crossed the centerline on the icy road, colliding with a westbound pickup driven by Daniel Plaisance, 54, of Faribault, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

Population in area still going down 

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2017 the population of Martin County dropped from 19,890 to 19,850, a continuance of a slow decline. Since 2010, the population has decreased by 951 residents.
