Crow Wing County Board: Tax-forfeited surplus revenues reviewed 

It was a good year for Crow Wing County Land Services-at least when its director requested approval of the 2017 tax-forfeited surplus apportionment at Tuesday's county board meeting. The recommended distribution is in accordance with past practice, and the highest revenue and largest surplus amounts in the past 15 years according to Land Services Director Gary Griffin.

EMT Graduates 

These students, upon completion of their National Registry for Emergency Medical Technician's exam, will become both nationally certified and Minnesota EMSRB-licensed to practice emergency medicine. A benefit for the family of Danyele Johnson 

A benefit for the family of Danyele Johnson of Ironton who was tragically killed in Crosby recently will be Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Deerwood Legion. The event will begin at 5 p.m. and include a silent auction of numerous gift baskets, certificates and merchandise donated by area businesses and individuals.

Longtime attorney, former Canterbury Park official is hurt in snowmobile crash 

A longtime Minneapolis attorney crashed into a tree while riding a snowmobile in central Minnesota and was recovering Tuesday in a Twin Cities hospital, authorities said. Bruce Malkerson, 69, was injured while riding Saturday afternoon on private property on Evergreen Trail in Deerwood, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.

Mom delivers baby in vehicle on way to Aitkin hospital 

Kelsey Henson smiles with her four girls Kiandra Henson, 7, Jakiyah Henson, 3, Kamierah Henson, 2 and baby Javeah Mae Henson. Javeah was born Jan. 19 in a vehicle while they were on their way to the Aitkin hospital.

Boy in custody after threatening self, dad with guns 

A 12-year-old boy with two guns threatening to kill himself at a home north of Crosby ended with the juvenile being transported to a hospital. Chief Deputy Denny Lasher of the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office said the sheriff's office was called at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday by the boy's father to a home on the 29000 block of Highway 6 in Crosby.
