Minnesota Mountain Bike Series Race, Cuyuna Crusher to bring hundreds of riders to area 

More than 500 mountain bikers, their friends and families are expected in Crosby the weekend of Aug. 18-19 for the Fourth Annual Cuyuna Crusher Race sponsored by the Cuyuna Lakes Chamber and the Minnesota Mountain Bike Series. On Saturday, Aug. 18, all are welcome to celebrate at the Cuyuna Crusher Happy Hour, located from 5-8 p.m. on Cross Avenue in front of the Spalding House.

Tuesday's primary election to see new polling places 

Harrison School in Brainerd displays an election banner in this April 10 photo about the school referendum and is one location where residents no longer can vote in the Aug. 14 primary election. Frank Lee / Brainerd Dispatch Voters in some precincts may be in for a rude awakening when they go to vote in Tuesday's primary election and find the polling locations they're familiar with are no longer in use.

Armour Lake drowning 

On July 20th, 2018 at 7:35 p.m. the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible drowning that had occurred on Armour Mine #2, located in the City of Crosby in Crow Wing County. It was reported a 13-year-old male was swept away in the current of the inlet while trying to retrieve a Frisbee.

Waiting for a mentor: Tate, 8, seeks fun-loving mentor 

Well, 8-year-old Tate is into all three! He would like a mentor to know he "likes to do a lot of stuff, is nice and friendly." Tate is a sweet and happy-go-lucky boy who is interested in climbing trees and swinging outside, having picnics and watching movies.

Joe is the son of Jim and Donna Radinovich of Cuyuna and the son of Don Mooers and the late Lisa Mooers of Deerwood. Joe is a graduate of Crosby-Ironton High School, attended Macalester College and is currently a candidate for the US Congress for the 8th District of Minnesota.

Crosby artist Nora Novotny's work is on display at the Baxter cafe and the Holy Yoga studio in Crosby. "Woolgatherer," an exhibit of fiber art by Lisa Jordan, through Aug. 4. Exhibit is open to the public 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturdays.

Authorities identify 13-year-old drowning victim 

The boy who died Friday, July 20, in an apparent drowning in Armour No. 2 mine pit lake in Crosby was identified by the sheriff's office Monday.
