Dahl, Lasher announce their retirements from sheriff's office

Police blotter - Nov. 16 

Crosby police: WET - An officer responded Nov. 9 to the Crosby City Park to check the welfare of two juvenile males, who were reported to be near the lake and soaking wet. Officer located the two males who stated they were "just playing" and "checking the ice."

Driver injured after vehicle crashes into mailboxes

Former Crosby mayor fined, forced to give up notary stamp 

Hunter, who was charged with felony assault and theft by swindle earlier this year, resigned his position as mayor in August. The charges stem from a con Hunter allegedly ran involving the sale of his business, Buy Sell Trade in Crosby.

Hallett trust to match giving to Crosby youth center 

The Cuyuna Range Youth Center will be participating in Give to the Max and will receive a matching grant up to $10,000 from the Hallett Charitable Trusts. "The Cuyuna Range Youth Center is a safe, fun place for all youth to gather and be guided by caring adults in building friendships, exploring interests, and learning skills that enable them to make positive decisions throughout their lives," a news release stated.

A 32-year-old man was arrested Sunday during a traffic stop on West Main Street for second-degree driving while intoxicated. A 27-year-old man was arrested Sunday during a traffic stop on Third Avenue Southwest and Second Street for fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.

In a former job, I watched Jason Eden's work with at-risk students, teaching them about solar energy and its use for good.

Crosslakers and Government Leadership 

Dozens of government officials met with the Crosslakers and the Minnesota Design Team Friday, October 27 at the Crosslake Lutheran Church to discuss Crosslaker projects and how citizen groups like the Crosslakers can work with government to implement the projects. Part of the meeting was spent in small group discussions like this one.

Nuisance beavers are a big enough problem the state Legislature might consider action, the Aitkin Independent Age reported. Aitkin County Commissioner Bill Pratt said the Association of Minnesota Counties is drafting legislation it intends to lobby on behalf of, that would require cost-sharing between counties and local units of governments when it comes to beaver control.
