One dead, two injured in crash near Crookston 

An East Grand Forks, Minn., man has died in a crash near Crookston, and two other victims were sent to the hospital. Multiple agencies responded at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday to the crash about 10 miles east of Crookston on U.S. Highway 2, where a 2005 plumbing truck rear-ended a 1974 Ford F45 tractor truck, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Accused Minn. priest returns to public ministry; attorney calls move 'reckless' 

A Roman Catholic priest on leave from two northwestern Minnesota parishes for 20 months amid an allegation of sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old boy has returned to public ministry in time to celebrate Christmas. In a statement posted on the Diocese of Crookston website on Saturday, Bishop Michael Hoeppner said its clergy abuse review panel scrutinized a deposition given by the accuser in a lawsuit "and deemed the allegations not credible."

Probation the next target for Minnesota criminal justice reform 

CROOKSTON, Minn.-Minnesota prides itself on having one of the nation's lowest incarceration rates, but an increasing number of experts say the less discussed trade-off is the large number of people on probation. Minnesota has the third lowest incarceration rate in the nation, with 196 people per 100,000 in prison, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics.
