Ski Fields Shut, Passengers Barred From Ferry 

South Island ferry passengers and motorists are advised to be cautious as snowfall and severe weather continue to batter the country. The poor weather conditions have closed Mount Hutt, Mount Cheeseman and Porters ski fields, as snow reached low levels in the South Island.

U.S. House control could hinge on Jim Hagedorn, - worst Republican candidate in America' 

Since 2006, it has been the seat of Mankato Democrat Rep. Tim Walz, who succeeded six-term Republican Gil Gutknecht, and held on as one of the last Democrats defending a seat that voted moderate-to-conservative in other races. Northland Foundation scholarship applications available 

The Northland Foundation has announced that Minnesota Early Learning Scholarship applications are now available for families of young children living in Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis counties. Scholarships are up to $7,500 per child, per year, to help eligible families with the cost of high-quality child care, Head Start, preschool, or school-based prekindergarten.
