One of two men who stole a gold bar from a Key West museum in 2010 says his untreated child abuse and a $700-a-week cannabis addiction played a significant role in the crime. Richard Steven Johnson is due for sentencing at U.S. District Court in Key West on July 23 for breaking into a display case while Jarred Goldman kept watch and swiping a 17th century gold ba r recovered from a shipwreck in 1980.

Trampled By Turtles Share Cover Of Tom Petty's 'Wildflowers' 

Trampled By Turtles recorded a cover of Tom Petty's "Wildflowers," which was released on Record Store Day in April as a 7-inch vinyl single backed by the title track from their recently issued album Life Is Good On The Open Road . The band has now made their version of Petty's classic available to stream or download.

DNR blames large fish kill near Twin Cities on illegal release of ornamental goldfish 

The introduction of nonnative ornamental goldfish is the suspected cause of large numbers of dead carp washing up on a lakeshore just south of the Twin Cities, according to state conservation officials. A virus from the koi goldfish also has been found in at least eight other southern Minnesota lakes in the past year, the state Department of Natural Resources said Friday.
