Ward 3 candidates differ on funding priorities 

The Ward 3 candidate for Rochester City Council said he has long supported law enforcement and cited a need for additional policing. "I think supporting our police force is very important," he said Tuesday during a League of Women Voters' candidate forum at the Rochester Public Library.

Video: Minn. lawmaker rips microphone out of challenger's hand at debate 

A Minnesota state lawmaker is making national headlines after a video clip showing him ripping a microphone away from his challenger and then lobbing it back toward her during a Rochester event spread online. Byron man arrested for construction thefts 

A rural Byron man was arrested Monday afternoon for his alleged involvement in a series of construction thefts which occurred over the summer. Justin Quam, 25, was arrested around 4 p.m. by the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office in the 9500 block of Valleyhigh Drive Northwest in Kalmar Township, according to Capt.

Area students learn about early 1800s at Zumbro Bend Rendezvous 

The weather may not have cooperated, but students from local schools didn't seem to mind as they attended "School Days" at the Zumbro Bend Rendezvous last week in Dodge Center. Sixth-graders from Byron and fifth-graders from Kasson-Mantorville sloshed through water and mud on Thursday to get a view of life in the early 1800s while students from Triton and Hayfield braved cold and wind on Friday.

Holly Ebel: Small but sweet

Woessner, a retired Byron teacher, was celebrating his birthday with other retired Byron teachers who meet at the bakery and coffee shop every Tuesday.

Should Byron get its own library? 

BYRON, Minn. If residents in Byron want to go to a library, they have to drive at least 15 minutes east to the Rochester Public Library or maybe another 15 minutes west to the Kasson Library.
