Middle School bear installed 

The wish of Byron School District Facilities and Grounds Manager Brian Haskin came true; the metal bear sculpture was installed at the Middle School before Good Neighbor Days. The bear is the same pattern as the smaller of the two metal bears at the Primary School, but he is made of small sheets of steel, not lawn mower blades like the other Ken Nyberg bear sculptures that grace Byron schools.

Search for owner of mystery wedding dress is on 

Over the weekend, a woman from Dodge Center found an abandoned wedding dress in a ditch in between Byron and Dodge Center, Schouweiler said. There was a tattered garment bag and a veil bag, which had a name printed on it.

The Memorial Service for Alan W. Rustan will be at 11:00AM, Friday, July 20, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron with Pastor Steve Rheingans officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Byron Funeral Home and a half hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Rural Dodge County home severely damaged in fire 

Eleven minutes after midnight, a fire was reported at 67523 270th Ave., between Kasson and Byron. It is believed the blaze began in the attached garage.

Byron man gets five years in prison for fleeing police 

A Byron man was sentenced Monday to five years in prison in connection with a burglary and police chase in January. James Donald Minter was convicted of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, first-degree burglary, and possession of ammunition/firearm after a previous conviction.

Loss from home fire estimated at $100,000 

A fire Sunday night caused $100,000 in loss to a residence in the 300 block of 60th Avenue Northwest between Rochester and Byron. Residents of the house returned home at about 10:45 p.m., opened the door and realized the house was on fire, said Capt.

Million Dollar bail set for Baez 

Julio Baez appeared at his arraignment hearing with his attorney on Thursday, June 21. Baez is facing two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and a single count of sexual conduct in the third degree. Unconditional bail was set at $1 million and conditional bail was set at $500,000.
