For Clarke, a steep hill to climb 

Roughly two years after purchasing Magnetation and Essar Steel Minnesota in bankruptcy auctions, Tom Clarke, front man for both, faces challenges that include ERPI's Chapter 11 bankruptcy declaration and a decision by his own investors at Nubai Global Investment Ltd. to remove him as chief executive of their northern Minnesota companies. In a July 27 interview, however, Clarke was optimistic.

Lake Country Power appoints Venema as consumer account rep II 

Lake Country Power recently appointed Becky Venema of Bovey as consumer account rep II in its Grand Rapids Service Center. Venema will be responsible for resolving a wide range of member inquires and concerns regarding issues such as billing, work orders, service orders and transfers.

Two Bovey City Councilors Charged with Theft 

Mike Bibich was charged back in February, with aiding and abetting theft and misconduct of a public officer. The criminal complaint said that he took items from the old Spur station in Bovey, that was considered property of Itasca County.
