Body of northern Minnesota man last seen on Sunday is found in St. Louis County lake 

The body of a St. Louis County man who was last seen on Sunday was pulled from Silver Lake in Biwabik Township on Thursday evening, authorities said. Elmer Willman, 77, of Aurora, Minn., was found in the lake next to his canoe about 7 p.m. Neighbors last saw Willman on Sunday; his family went to look for him Thursday after not being able to contact him all week, the Sheriff's Office said.

Minnesota officials clean up mine breach damage 

Minnesota officials are working to repair damage caused by a flood of muddy water from an abandoned mine pit in the state's northern region. Water and sediment from the Hector Mine iron ore pit breached an earthen berm in April, flowing downstream into the Embarrass River and connecting lakes, Minnesota Public Radio reported .

Senate Republicans Propose Funding for Duluth Seawall 

Minnesota Senate Republicans included the Duluth Harbor seawall and several new Northland projects as part of a bonding plan released Wednesday, but the Senate version is missing some projects backed by the House and Gov. Mark Dayton. The $825 million package is exactly the same size as the House Republican proposal but contains a different list of projects to be funded.

Residents in the annexed areas of the city of Biwabik are asked to boil all water before drinking it or using it. It may contaminated with bacteria.

Washout Cuts Off Utility Service Near Biwabik 

A washout along the Mesabi Trail near Biwabik has cut off water and sewer and also affected natural gas lines. City officials told Eyewitness News that drainage from the old Ajax Mine washed a 30 to 40 foot deep gully that ripped lines and service to 60 residences and Giants Ridge Recreation Area.
