Pigeon-drowning Alexandria company hit with 25 counts of animal cruelty [VIDEO] 

But there was no sign of further punishment for the Alexandria company, which sells frozen or preserved animal carcasses to schools for student dissection. The Alexandria Police Department had been dragging its feet, even after a judge ordered the department to follow up.

Smoking led to fatal fire that killed 2 in Alexandria, say investigators 

The Alexandria Fire Department, the Alexandria Police Department and the State Fire Marshal completed the investigation and said the fire at Viking City Mobile Home Park at 1611 6th Avenue will be classified as accidental. The Midwest Medical Examiner's report shows that both James "Jimmy" Chandler, 49, and his girlfriend, Rose Couillard, 59, died from "inhalation of products of combustion" or smoke.

Franson meets with student Democrats, issues apology 

State Rep. Mary Franson, R-Alexandria, changed her mind and decided to meet with the Alexandria Area High School Democrats on Wednesday. "I met with the Alexandria High School Democrats, and we had an engaging and productive discussion on the issues of climate change, college affordability and a carbon tax," Franson said Friday, Dec. 22. "I appreciate the assistance of Alexandria High School in helping to facilitate the meeting, and that we were able to meet in an appropriate venue.

Minn. lakes survey shows frustration with DNR 

ALEXANDRIA, Minn.-Minnesota lake association leaders say they donate millions of dollars and volunteer hours each year caring for lakes, yet the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources doesn't take them seriously. Alexandria Rep. Mary Franson won't meet with students. Because they're liberal. 

When we last left state Rep. Mary Franson , she was graciously offering a clinical diagnosis of new Minneapolis Councilwoman Andrea Jenkins, who happens to be transgender. "A guy who thinks he's a girl is still a guy with a mental condition," Franson tweeted the night of the election.

'I don't meet with partisan groups': Minn. Rep. Mary Franson's tweetstorm raises eyebrows 

A request from a group of students - the Alexandria Area High School Democrats - to meet with state Rep. Mary Franson, R-Alexandria, to discuss legislative issues triggered a Twitter exchange that went viral over the weekend. Franson declined the group's request, tweeting that it was "not a legislator's duty to meet with a partisan Democrat group."
