Severe weather, drenching rain for Twin Cities, southern Minn. 

The Twin Cities and much of east central, south central and southeastern Minnesota are under the threat of severe weather Thursday with heavy rain, damaging winds, hail and tornadoes possible. The National Weather Service has placed cities such as Mankato, Albert Lea, Rochester, Red Wing and the Twin Cities under an enhanced risk for severe weather, with the greatest chance for wild weather coming between 3 and 9 p.m. from southeast Minnesota into western Wisconsin.

Albert Lea Church Burglarized, Police Asking Help for Information 

The Albert Lea Police Department is asking the public's help for information regarding a string of church burglaries. According to a Facebook post, police said the latest to fall prey is the Grace Lutheran Church.

Wind industry says Minn. pollution-control stance will stifle its growth 

The wind energy industry says an opinion filed by Minnesota pollution control regulators defining wind turbine noise will stifle its growth. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says the state's limit for wind farm noise applies not only to sounds from turbines but also should include background noise like road traffic, said the filing with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission .

Freeborn County deputies to get body cameras 

ALBERT LEA, Minn.- The Freeborn County board of commissioners voted to purchase 14 new body cameras for deputies. The body cameras will be for deputies out on the streets and will be for detention deputies and there will be on extra in case of emergencies.

As rain ends, threat of flooding remains in southern Minn. 

Residents across southeastern Minnesota and southwestern Wisconsin are nervously watching as creeks and rivers are expected to rise after heavy rain fell Tuesday night and continued Wednesday morning in areas where grounds remain saturated after historic flooding last week. No widespread flooding from the recent storms had been reported Wednesday morning, but flood warnings remained in effect for Freeborn, Faribault, Goodhue, Rice, Steele and Waseca counties in Minnesota until 2 p.m. Wednesday, while a flood watch covered the rest of southeastern Minnesota and several counties in southwestern Wisconsin, the National Weather Service said.

Law Enforcement Looking for Reported Armed Robbery Suspect 

The Freeborn County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a suspect involved in a reported armed robbery at the Gopher Stop in Clarks Grove. According to the sheriff's office, Monday around 9:30 p.m. an employee at the Gopher Stop reported that an armed robbery had just occurred.

Albert Lea city employee information compromised 

ALBERT LEA, Minn.- City employees are paying the price of what the Minnesota Department of Revenue is calling a W2 email phishing scam. Albert Lea's City Attorney says the city was contacted by the FBI saying one of their employees responded to an email from an untrusted 3rd party.

1 Arrested in Shots Fired Incident in Albert Lea 

The Freeborn County Sheriff's Office said one person has been arrested after an incident involving a rifle in Albert Lea. According to a press release, around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, deputies and Albert Lea police responded to a call of shots fired in the vicinity of 20600 715th Ave. The release stated 29-year-old Tyler Christensen hit the other man in the back with a shovel, then went into a building, grabbed a .22 lever action rifle and fired a shot.
