Driver given jail time, fined $500 for school bus stop arm violation 

ADA, MN - A third driver has been given jail time for going around a school bus with its red lights activated and stop arm extended in Norman County. County attorney James Brue began to recommend jail sentences last fall.

Road Work Ahead in NE Minnesota 

MnDOT held its construction kickoff Wednesday as Superior Street residents and businesses brace themselves for the reconstruction project set to begin in less than two weeks. From mid-April through mid-October, MnDOT will spend about $98.5 million on 29 projects in northeastern Minnesota.

Avon officer who shot mall attacker to receive bravery award 

An Avon police officer who shot and killed an attacker at a central Minnesota mall is being honored for bravery. U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith and U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer will host the ceremony for Falconer at the St. Cloud Police Department.

MnDOT announces list of 2018 road and bridge projects 

The Minnesota Department of Transportation released its list of projects for District 6 - the area of the state that covers Southeast Minnesota - this morning. The road and bridge work for 2018 includes projects in Southeast Minnesota ranging from $250,000 for traffic signal replacement, ADA facilities, bike lane and trail improvements as part of a Winona project at U.S. Highway 61 and Huff Street to $10.75 million for the two-part road resurfacing of U.S. Highway 63 from just north of 75th Street in Olmsted County to Wabasha County Road 78 near Oak Center.

Sentencing awaits Minn. mom who shot boyfriend during YouTube stunt 

A 20-year-old woman is expected to be told she can never touch a firearm again Wednesday in her sentencing for fatally shooting the father of her two children during a YouTube stunt gone awry that they video-recorded outside their northwestern Minnesota home. Monalisa Perez pleaded guilty in Norman County District Court in December to killing 22-year-old Pedro Ruiz III on June 26 in Halstad as part of a scheme to propel him to internet fame.
