Fire at Nisswa church starts in kitchen 

The Nisswa Fire Department responds to reports of a kitchen fire at Timberwood Church in Nisswa on the morning of Friday, April 20, after a sprinkler system extinguished the fire but created a need for a cleanup.

Floating Bog Menaces Crow Wing County 

"They said there was this huge chunk of land floating towards them... And they were sitting there having coffee and it just kept coming. It destroyed their dock and boat lifts and they wanted to know what to do about it."

Emily man faces domestic assault charges 

A 23-year-old Emily man faces charges following a domestic assault in which he allegedly grabbed a woman by the throat to the point where she was unable to breathe. Kyle Joseph Frank was charged Monday in Crow Wing County District Court in Brainerd with felony domestic assault by strangulation, two gross misdemeanor stalking charges and misdemeanor domestic assault.

Crow Wing County announces temporary seasonal trail closures 

The Crow Wing County Land Services Department will be temporarily closing selected forest trails on county managed lands to motorized vehicles. These closures are due to vulnerable trail surfaces caused by the spring thaw.

Crow Wing County announces "kick-off" of Pine River Watershed "One... 

Crow Wing County, Cass County, the Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District, announces the beginning of planning for the development of the Pine River watershed "One Watershed, One Plan" Comprehensive Water Plan or "1W1P". As part of planning efforts, we are hosting a public information "kickoff" meeting and open- house on Monday, May 7th, from 8:30am to 12:00 the Ideal Township Community Center located at 35458 Butternut Point Road, Pequot Lakes, Minnesota.

Crosslake: Council tables discussion on rock dam repair project, talks city hall safety 

The Crosslake City Council tabled discussion regarding the use of Big Pine Trail to haul materials for the Pine River Rock Dam repair project after hearing from the Crow Wing County Soil and Water Conservation District and the city's public works department Monday, April 9. Beth Hippert, of the SWCD, asked the council to agree not to hold contractors liable for any road damage that could occur during the project under two conditions: Contractors will not exceed legal road limits and will provide weight tickets. The repair project includes a series of five rock weirs that will replace the failing rock dam structure.

Crow Wing County to kick off 'One Watershed, One Plan' planning process 

A public information meeting and open house is planned from 8:30 a.m. to noon May 7 at the Ideal Township Community Center, 35458 Butternut Point Road, Pequot Lakes. Gary Roach, a long-time Pine River Watershed resident, renowned fisherman and lifetime guide, will be speaking about the value and importance of the Pine River Watershed.

Crow Wing County Board approves excavation services for landfill

Pequot Lakes: Road turnback process progressing 

As a formality only, the Pequot Lakes City Council temporarily renamed Patriot Avenue as part of the process to become owner of the road. Called the "road turnback process," the former state highway must become a county road for the state to give the road to Crow Wing County.
