The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.80.
In the township the population is spread out with 21.4% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 32.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 107.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 106.2 males.
The median income for a household in the township is $45,662, and the median income for a family is $49,808. Males have a median income of $35,313 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the township is $20,522. 3.0% of the population and 1.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 7.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
SILVER CREEK Township, organized May 3, 1905, received the name of a creek flowing into Lake Superior four miles northeast of Two Harbors, translated from the Ojibwe name. The village in section 34 (T. 54N, R. 10W) was begun about 1890 by Henry Clark at what was known first as Clark or Clark's Crossing in section 10, which had a station of the Duluth and Northern Minnesota Railroad in section 21.
