Remer Township, and the earlier Remer post office and railway village, were named in honor of E. N. and William P. Remer, brothers, of whom the former was treasurer and manager of the Reishus-Remer Land Company of Grand Rapids, and the latter was the first postmaster here. The city of Remer, sections 1 and 2, was incorporated as a village on January 12, 1912, and separated from the township on June 23, 1914. The post office began in 1904, along with a sawmill and several stores, and a station of the Soo Line Railroad.

| We invite you to spend your vacation with us this year. We specialize in life-long memories made in one of the most beautiful areas of the country. The lake is crystal clear; the beach warm and inviting. And the fishing will reward your angling skills. When not fishing or enjoying the lake or beach, why not relax in our sauna, play pool in the Lodge, or just gather with friends new and old? Work up a sweat playing volleyball or tennis, or play a round of golf at any of the nearby courses. Pack a picnic lunch and see the historic Mesabi Iron Range or walk across the headwaters of the Mississippi in Itasca State Park. Spend a day on the lake on our party pontoon. Go out on the docks after dark on a clear, moonless night and see one of the most spectacular light shows you will ever see - you might even be treated to a performance by the northern lights. | |
