The Orr Bog Walk's half-mile long boardwalk surface provides nature enthusiasts of all ages and abilities with easy access to a wide variety of wetland types -- including spruce bog, ash swamp, cattail marsh, and tamarack swamp. In the bog, look for the carnivorous pitcher plant. In the ash swamp, look for purple fringed orchids in July. Along the Pelican River, be on the lookout for otters, muskrats, eagles, osprey, pelicans, and a wide assortment of other wildlife.

Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary, a special place for bears and people, nestled in the beautiful North Woods of Northern Minnesota. Without a doubt, the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary is the place to see black bears and other wildlife in their natural habitat. From our expanded viewing deck, visitors learn about bears by observing their natural behavior. The American Bear Association is proud to offer this unique educational opportunity.

Nearly 200 years ago voyageurs paddled birch bark canoes full of animal pelts and trade goods through this area on their way to Lake Athabasca, Canada. Today, people explore the park by houseboat, motorboat, canoe, and kayak. Voyageurs is a water-based park where you must leave your car and take to the water to fully experience the lakes, islands, and shorelines of the park.
