Geography:

Nassau is a city in Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.16 square miles (0.41 km²), all of it land. The elevation is 1,129 ft (344 m) above sea level.

Demographics:

As of the census of 2010, there were 72 people, 35 households, and 19 families residing in the city. The population density was 450.0 inhabitants per square mile (173.7/km2). There were 42 housing units at an average density of 262.5 per square mile (101.4/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 100.0% White.

There were 35 households of which 20.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.4% were married couples living together, 2.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 45.7% were non-families. 40.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 20% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.06 and the average family size was 2.79.

The median age in the city was 54.2 years. 18.1% of residents were under the age of 18; 0% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 18.1% were from 25 to 44; 38.9% were from 45 to 64; and 25% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 52.8% male and 47.2% female.

History:  

NASSAU, a city of Walter Township, was platted in December 1893 and incorporated as a village in 1897. This name, received from Germany, is borne by counties of New York and Florida. The village had a station of the Great Northern Railway and has had a post office since 1888.

Reid & Shelly Wildung are the owners and operators of Wildung Hampshires and Show Pigs, near Nassau, Minnesota. They raise Hampshire breeding stock and crossbred show pigs, along with the Yorkshires and Durocs they co-own with partners in BRW Purebreds. Additionally, they raise corn and soybeans. Raising, showing, judging and being around pigs has been a passion of Reid & Shelly's since they were young exhibitors showing in 4-H and FFA.
