Freeborn County Fair has brought over 138 years of entertainment to the Albert Lea MN area!   Our annual attractions include an antique tractor show, a carnival and so much more. 

Last weekend in August

Over 50 teams from 8 states compete for over $13,000 in prize money. Enjoy one of Midwest's finest BBQ competition, with an opportunity to sample the best BBQ around! Stage entertainment and peoples' choice competition in chicken wings and chili on Friday night.

First weekend in October

The Midwest’s largest early American history event. Our timeline goes from 1650 to 1865. Our focus is experiential (hands-on) education and entertainment for all ages. The event is held at Bancroft Bay City Park in Albert Lea, MN. This is a beautiful peninsula that extends into Fountain Lake and features both wooded and open areas.

Historical museum with unique, professionally designed exhibits defining the history of Freeborn County. We have an excellent research library. A historical village with 18 buildings - county school, church, general store, log cabins, mill house and more.

The Marion Ross Performing Arts Center is an historic building conveniently located in downtown Albert Lea. The theater has a spacious lobby and a fully equipped lighting and sound system. It seats 255. It has a projector that can be used with DVDs, VCRs and computers for a variety of presentations. The theater is an ideal facility for business meetings and seminars. A room on the downstairs level is perfect for small meetings.

The City of Albert Lea’s Aquatic Center features a zero depth splash pool with interactive play features for children including tumble buckets, deck sprays, a mushroom waterfall, bubblers, and a five arm water fountain. And best of all – don’t miss the 226 foot water slide!!! For our patron’s comfort, there are several large, colorful shade structures so that you can get out of the sun while you watch the kids play, or take a break from your trips down the slide. A family bath house is located adjacent to the feature pool The newly renovated main pool ranges in depth from 3 and a half feet to 13 feet and has two one meter diving boards

This is a natural park area with limited development. The amenities include two picnic shelters, picnic tables, fire rings, restrooms and hiking trails.

Established in 1949, Green Lea Golf Course boasts an 18 hole, par 72 course that will keep you coming back time after time. The adjacent airport allows for easy access from anywhere. Your hosts Jeff and Denise Elseth invite you to come out and experience this beautiful course. We are open to the public and invite everyone to try our impeccable hospitality.

This park has something for everyone. The trails take visitors around wet lowlands, oak savanna, and grasslands. Albert Lea Lake and park marshes draw hundreds of waterfowl during migration. Oak savanna and prairie landscape, including wetlands, dominate most of the park. One of the more unique aspects of the park is the 116-acre Big Island, covered with maple/basswood forest. Another is the glacial esker located in the northeast section of the park.

We are a wooded secluded 40 acre campground, surrounded by prairie and beautiful landscape, and about 12 miles from the junction of I-90 and I-35, with absolutely no freeway noise. And just minutes away from Diamond Jo Casino! We have remodeled the lodge quite extensively. It is now bright and clean with a fun atmosphere. The lodge contains a lounge where families can watch movies on our big screen TV.

93 drive-in sites and 32 electric sites. About a third of the sites are located in the heavily wooded Big Island campground. The balance of the drive-in sites are available in the White Fox campground which offers a picturesque prairie setting. Also 4 backpack sites available; sites are located between 1 and 2 miles from parking area. Sites can also be reached by mountain bike although accessibility is limited during wet periods. Call ahead for current status. All sites can be reached by canoe.
